| Guys I contacted Fensport on www.fensport.co.uk thanks to Kev's tip. They had one 5 Speed Unit left which I ordered and it shipped today. I'll let you guys know when it's on. Cheers Ian |

| Hi Guys Just thought I'd update everyone as a "Tip". So I ordered the TRD Short Shift but when it arrived, I noticed the Box said ae110. I contacted Fensport but the guy was confident what he had sent would work. Just a tip for everyone, it does not work. At first glance I thought what they sent was correct but where the two cables come in to the Short Shift assembly is where the problem lies. The two cables do not go into the mechanism far enough to allow the slot to protrude where you can then put on the C Clip. I now have to send back to Ireland from Barbados. Fun fun |

| Has anyone had any luck installing a short shift kit on a 101?
I have just bought one from TradeMe and will give it a go sometime in the next couple of days.
Any hints or tips would be appreciated. |

| Well.....I did not have any luck installing mine.....as they sent me a Kit for the AE110 But I am an expert an taking everything apart and putting it back together The Center console between the seats comes off easy. The tricky bit for me was working out how to pull the front part of the center console out. I eventually realied that I had to first remove the panel under the steering wheel and the whole glovebox panel. Once these were removed, the two screws holding the front part of the center console were exposed and after that it was fairly straightforward. The Clips that hold the two linkages can also be a little tricky but as long as you;re working with a lot of light, you can see things fairkly easily. Another tip I would suggest, put some old towels over your seats so they don't get messed up with any dirtmarks. If I can be of any more help....give me a shout Cheers |

| Make one yourself (thats what the guy that I bought mine off did) 1) Dismantle the shifter so that you're just left with the arm itself 2) Heat up the pivot ball on the shifter arm with a gas torch 3) Bash the pivot ball up the shaft off the spline (which is why you need to heat it up), maybe half an inch total 4) Re-assemble the shifter (once cool) 5) Install shifter into car, using some washers as spacers to lift the cradle up (prevents the lower bush from hitting the tunnel in 5th/reverse) 6) Bask in the glory of having a proper home-made short shifter (shorter height AND reduced throw, unlike DIY cut-down shifters which just reduce the height) 7)... | I have managed to get the shifter assembly out, but I cannot figure out how to disassemble it to get the new shift lever in, any suggestions?
The internet at large has not been overly helpful, and my Haynes manual only gives advice on getting the whole assembly out, not how to disassemble that bit as well. |

| Sadly I don't have any as I had to put it back in to move the car so I could take the front suspension out haha.
I will take some though, when I next have it out. |
